OK . . . so after ten years of running a scrapbook business I think I may have caught this "scrapbooking" bug!!   It first hit me in 2010 when we had three babies in 3 months, I have never been the same :) Those little people have inspired me beyond anything I thought possible.

But I digress . . . those little people have a way of making me do that!!

So, one evening I find myself shuffling thru a scrapbook magazine, reading other people's favorite techniques and hints, when I come across a reference to a website with ideas for titles and journaling. Now I'm caught since I actually think of myself as more a "journaler with pictures" than a scrapbooker. I quickly find my computer, type in urbandictionary.com and immediately find a plethera of slang words (not all suitable for all ages) that spark ideas for titles and journaling.  This one in particular makes me smile . . .

SLEEP TATOOS . . . the markings on the body from sleeping for an extended period of time, caused by blankets, clothing, or any other thing one would sleep on. Commonly found on the chest, face, and arms.

I am already picturing this scrapbook page in my mind. Now to get my camera and my victim!!

Granny's Junk Trunk

Hi!  Amie here, the new girl at Sassy Scrapper. I am delighted to be revealing my creations in November at both the first Saturday event and classes. I spent ten years in the industry in outside sales. I've served on design teams on some online sketch sites, including Let's Scrap. I am so excited about the opportunity Mary has given me and am looking forward to making your acquaintance. Now, on to scrappy news....

When I first saw this new paper line called The Avenues by Bo Bunny, they reminded me overwhelmingly, fondly of my beloved Granny Mattie. Hence the name of the post and class. I've created four simply stunning cards using the paper line. Even if you don't consider yourself a card maker, these are so simple, they'll have you looking at paper differently and coming back for more!

Your class toolbox should contain some pop dots or dimensional glue, ice blue, black and clear, sparkly, glitter glue and a white pearl pen. If you don't have these items, I'll have some to share. :-)

Class is Tuesday, November 5th, one at 10:00 a.m and one at 6:00 p.m. I have six spots in each class. The cost is $12.50. Register online or call the store at 615-898-0050.

A SAD DAY FOR THE SCRAPBOOK INDUSTRY

< I have been reading and hearing many comments concerning the recent announcement of Archivers in Nashville closing. It is sad that the industry has taken yet another very hard hit. Unfortunately, it is us, the consumers who need to recognize that we are the ones who ultimately make those decisions. In this current economy, it is very difficult for a "brick and mortar" to compete with catalog and online companies who carry no every day overhead. If having a "brick and mortar" where we can see and touch the product, where we can ask questions and receive personal assistance, where we can take classes and learn about new products and techniques and where we can make and build friendships with others who love what we love is important to us . . . then it is imperative that we support them. Sassy is still here, ladies, and we are that store for you.

OK - where are my priorities????

They have not been on the blog - you probably figured that one out without me even saying
(SORRY).

The boss gave me a wake up call the other day when she asked how long it had been since I posted anything.  There is no getting around it - the posts speak for themselves - a very, very long time.  I didn't realize it had been so long and that two months shy of a year had passed.

So today I want to share with you one of my cards from my class this week.  We  have been doing card classes every month since May.  I am not typically a card maker but in May I made Mother's Day and Birthday cards for my MOM.  When I showed a couple of the girls what I was working on they wanted to know when I could teach them too - thus the beginning of Julie's Cards.

This month I pulled out Timmy's Tree Die and a small leaf punch and this is what came together.

TIP: A set of "Four Seasons" Cards would make a beautiful gift for someone special this Christmas.  Make the four cards each with different leaves:  Spring -  Summer - Fall - Winter.

I hope that you like this - Have a wonderful fall day.

~ Julie ~

First Saturday, July 6

Hello!  I am letting all of you know about this upcoming Saturday, July 6.  We have several First Saturday layouts that will be available as well as a great card kit (4 cards) that is made from Graphic 45 French Country.  All of these kits are in limited quantities, so hurry in to get them.  Each month we have been creating a Calendar Layout and they have been a big hit! It can be used to document the whole month of "happenings" in your life and then add pictures to show those special moments or the layout can just be filled with pictures having to do with one event that stood out that month!  Examples of all the kits are on our website under First Saturday Layouts.  Come and see us on Saturday!!  Hugs!  Allison
